Farm animals, a guessing competition, gumboot toss and face painting were all part of an agriculture day held recently at Wahroonga Adventist School (Sydney, NSW).

The children came dressed in farm-style gear and enjoyed the fun activities, including a vegetarian barbecue lunch. The event was part of a fundraising campaign by the school for drought-stricken Australian farmers. It raised $A4000.

“I’m having a lot of fun today just supporting a good cause toward the farmers,” said Angelica, one of the students.

The agriculture day was among a number of initiatives that the school has been running to support the farmers. A “Haystacks for Hay” lunch raised $700, while a “5c for a farmer” competition has seen the various classes competing to fill jars of 5c coins. The school also put out a call for dog food for the farm dogs, with 334kg being donated.
