15th June 2017
On Sabbath 27 May 2017 six young people gave their lives to Jesus. Following months of Bible study and discussions, Trisha Casinillo (19) and her brother Dirk Casinillo (14), together with Mabel Karikezi (18) and three members of the Clarke-Sliskovic family: Gabriella (16), Gabriel (13) and Rafaella (11), were baptised by Pastor Jovan Adamović which was the first baptism held since the new Swansea church was opened. Relatives and friends who attended the beautiful service were warmly welcomed as they witnessed the baptism of their loved ones. The new members were then welcomed into the family of God with a special song which lifted the church and brought glory to God.
Swansea church pledged to provide a support system to empower these young people to develop a personal relationship with Christ, grow in Christian maturity and become leaders in the church. The speaker for the day was Loren Latchman, a young woman who grew up and was baptised in Swansea church. Her presentation on her work in a Seventh-day Adventist English Language Institute in South Korea motivated the young people to become mission minded, using their gifts and talents in service to others. Loren emphasised the importance of focussing on developing relationships during outreach and not allowing cultural diversity to be an obstacle.
The scrumptious potluck lunch served, reflected the multicultural congregation in Swansea and was enjoyed by all.
