U.S. News & World Report has ranked Kettering Medical Center among the best hospitals for 2016-17. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures, and conditions.
Kettering Medical Center is ranked #17 out of 210 hospitals in Ohio, and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Dayton metro area and the Ohio River Valley region. It is recognized as high performing in the following specialties:
- Orthopedics
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Heart Failure
- Colon Cancer Surgery
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Knee Replacement
“We are so proud to receive this recognition once again,” says Jarrod McNaughton, president of Kettering Medical Center. “Quality is at the heart of all we do and we are pleased that U.S. News & World Report has acknowledged our commitment to quality patient care.”
The Best Hospitals methodologies include objective measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, and adequacy of nurse staffing.
For 2016-17, out of nearly 5,000 hospitals evaluated nationwide, 153 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty, while 1,628 received a high performing rating in one or more specialties, procedures or conditions. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals that were high-performing across multiple areas of care.
U.S. News & World Report also has recognized Fort Hamilton Hospital as high performing in the Heart Failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) specialties. Sycamore Medical Center has been recognized as high performing the Heart Failure specialty.
And in July, Kettering Health Network announced that it has been named one of the nation’s Most Wired Hospitals by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum.
HealthCare’s Most Wired® survey, conducted between Jan. 15 and March 15, 2016, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Networks (H&HN) magazine. The 2016 Most Wired survey and benchmarking study is a leading industry barometer measuring information technology (IT) use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. The survey of 680 participants, representing an estimated 2,146 hospitals — more than 34 percent of all hospitals in the United States — examines how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based health care in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management; quality and safety; and clinical integration.
“We are extremely honored to receive this recognition for our IT initiatives,” says Andy Lehman, chief information officer for Kettering Health Network. “We have been deliberate in identifying the most appropriate technology that will assist us in providing exceptional patient care throughout our network. The patient is at the heart of all our technology initiatives.” Click here to read more.
