An on-the-job live stream training session was conducted by the Central Papua Conference’s (CPC) Communication ministries for the Koki Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Communication team during the Elders’ Reflection Program on December 16, 2017.
Both Sabbath school and the main church service, which included wonderful singing and sharing, were shared on the church’s local Facebook page, viewership 35. One viewer from Brisbane expressed appreciation for the use of technology in sharing the gospel in a place where many seekers are—Facebook.

According to team leader Isaac Manu, any local church with the passion and budget can live stream its main church services and special events on Facebook.
A low-cost live stream operation only needs an prosumer level camcorder, a video splitter (for multiple inputs), input from the main audio system and a streaming laptop which runs Wirecast or a similar all-in-one video streaming production software that enables capture, encoding and broadcast to feeds such as YouTube and Facebook. A wireless router from any reliable 4G/LTE mobile service provider is sufficient to render stable connection throughout the duration of the program.
The local church communication leaders were delighted and appreciated the training. Building up capacity in local churches is a key to self-reliance. Most of the technologies are available but leaders must be trained to harness these opportunities in spreading the gospel.
The training was the first of its kind to be run in the Moresby South area. The CPC Communication Department will be running similar targeted live stream training for churches in Moresby North East and North West respectively in 2018.
Furthermore, the 2018 PNG Union Mission Pathfinder Camporee’s evening worship programs from January 8-14, 2018, will be live streamed on Facebook. CPC plans to build up its capacity with video-on-demand (VOD) platforms and mobile viewership as part of its digital discipleship plans.
