NEWS RELEASE: The 18th quinquennial session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada (Canadian Union Conference, or SDACC) was held in the College Heights Church on the campus of Burman University in Lacombe, Alberta. Delegates from across Canada met during the weekend of August 19-21. The session theme was “Christ our Hope and Wholeness.” During the weekend delegates received reports, enjoyed musical performances, and participated in a variety of discussions related to church policies and governance.

At the session delegates chose Mark Johnson, president; Daniel Stojanovic, executive secretary; Ulysses Guarin, treasurer; and Paul Musafili, undertreasurer to serve in leadership. Guarin, who was serving as treasurer of the Ontario Conference, joined the other three administrators who were reelected.

“I believe God has great plans for the SDACC and it is important that we continue to follow His leading as we enter into a new term,” says Johnson. “We will aim to submit wholly to His will as we continue to reach souls all across Canada.”

Also returned to office were Lori Dooks, director of Health Benefits; Grace Mackintosh, counsel and director of Public Affairs/Religious Liberty; and Marilyn Pazitka, director of the retirement plan for Canadian employees.

Current associate director of Education, Betty Bayer, was voted director of Education. The role of communication director will be decided by the SDACC Board of Directors.
