Elder Larry L. Caviness Passed Away
Elder Larry L. Caviness, immediate past president of the Southern California Conference, passed away at his home in Springboro Ohio, where he and his wife, Linda Caviness, PhD, had moved following retirement. He died peacefully at 3:56 this morning, Mar. 2, 2016, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. His wife Linda and other family members were by his side.
Tentative plans are for a funeral service in Chico, California, where other family members are buried. A memorial service is being planned in Southern California Conference. Announcements of details for both services will be shared as soon as confirmed.
Elder Caviness served as president of the Southern California Conference from 1997 to 2015, retiring in 2015. Prior to his time in the Los Angeles area, he served as president of the Nevada-Utah Conference from 1994-1997; and secretary of the Northern California Conference from 1986-1994. He served earlier as Youth Ministry director in Northern California, Carolina and New York conferences.
Larry and Linda Caviness are parents of two adult children: Talmadge Caviness; he and his wife Anna have two sons, Jaiden and Sinjin; Andrea Caviness Manchur and her husband Richard have one daughter, Zori Lissahn, and twins Boden and Misa. A third son, Aaron Tad Caviness, passed away in 1993.
